A Fundraising Event with RVA Pulse + the American Heart Association
Happy Tuesday, friends! Doesn’t it feel as though we skipped right through fall and sailed right on into winter? I’ve officially brought all my scarves out from the back of the closet, turned on the heater, and fired up the fireplace. We’re anticipating the Christmas season… and there’s a slight chance that Christmas decorations might appear in the next week or two. And all this cold weather has prompted all the winter recipes – warm, savory meals like soup and chili and all the winter drinks, including hot chocolate and egg nog.
Speaking of amazing food, I had the coolest opportunity to team up with RVA Pulse to photograph one of their recent fundraising events in conjunction with the American Heart Association! Earlier this month, they hosted An Evening with Manny Mendez – yep, THE Manny Mendez, owner of some pretty great restaurants around RVA, most notably Kuba Kuba.
The attendees gathered on a crisp fall evening at the Steward School – a fun, creative environment – to enjoy beverages from Triple Crossing Brewery, Williamsburg Winery, and Roaring Pines, paired with hors d’oeuvres and a heart-healthy cooking demonstration by Manny. The live string band – The Hot Seats – set the atmosphere for the relaxing and fun evening.
And the food. Oh the food, my friends. Dinner included kale caesar salad, salmon, veggie tamales, and fresh fruit cups with Remi Martin and whip for dessert. Every single bite was amazing! Dinner was followed by important information from the American Heart Association about tracking and maintaining our health. And 100% of the proceeds from the evening went to the American Heart Association! Enjoy!
While I don’t often shoot events, I really enjoyed getting to photograph one that was for such a great cause! Typically, I’m hanging out with awesome families and couples that love to have fun! Check out a few of those sessions here:
