Richmond Maternity Photographer | The Jabs Family
Oh my goodness. This session, y’all. It’s going to rank as one of my all-time favorites. Ok, let’s just be honest. I say that about every single one of my sessions, because well, they all are my all-time favorites. And that’s because I’m continually blessed with amazing clients!
But really, this one is super special. You may recognize the Jabs family. They’ve been in front of my lens time and time again. Remember the sunflower session at Lickinghole Creek Brewery? And their Maymont maternity session? Oh, and their fall photos last year? I am so incredibly humbled and thankful that they continue to trust me to document this life season that they’re in.
And this life season of theirs just keeps getting better! You see, they’re expecting baby Jabs #2 this coming February! That’s right. Little A is being promoted to big brother and this year, they wanted to document getting their Christmas tree. And of course, we had to throw in some maternity shots, as well.
This session was a dream! Quite literally, in fact, because what photographer doesn’t dream a little bit about photographing at a Christmas Tree farm?! And before we go any further, I just want to make a huge shout out to Nuckols Tree Farm. Both the Jabs’ and the Guido’s (that’s us!) got fine looking Christmas trees there two years in a row! When I emailed the owner of the tree farm to ask if he’d be alright if we documented the Jabs’ picking out their tree, he graciously agreed. (Disclaimer for my fellow photogs: ALWAYS ask before just using. These farms are often private property!).
Naturally, we decided that the Sunday after Thanksgiving was the perfect day to get our trees and so we all headed out to Powhatan to do some cutting. The weather could not have been any better and the sunset couldn’t have been any more beautiful. We took turns finding the perfect tree for both of our families and all the while, I shot some adorable photos of their adventure.
The fact that little A understood the concept of the tree a little better this year and was so much more mobile made this session incredibly fun. He was so happy walking around in his little Hunter boots, smelling the little trees and decking them with leaves. These types of sessions, where you can sit back and watch as their imaginations unfold – they’re often my favorite. Have a look for yourself!
