Celebrating One Year of Nani

O N E   Y E A R.

And yes. We are those people. The ones that throw a dog birthday party. Judge us all you want.

It’s crazy how fast time really does fly. A year ago last weekend, we had gone to see Nani at the shelter. Ben had high hopes for this sweet pup he had found online. I wasn’t sure if I was ready to welcome another pup into our home.

And it was love at first sight.

She walked out with the officer and she was so timid. The officer told us that everyone just passed right by her kennel because all she did was sleep. We took her outside to play for a bit. She was skittish, missing some hair, and real skinny. And she came with Lyme Disease.

We wanted to think about it. But the moment we left without her, I knew we were already sold.

On Monday afternoon, we gave her her fur-ever home.

And H O L Y   M O L Y.

Whoever walked past her kennel and thought she wasn’t energetic enough, she had you FOOLED.

Nani loves to cuddle. Living her best life looks like sleeping on our bed, playing with her favorite toys, and eating all the treats (except now she’s on a diet, because #spoiled). She loves other dogs, loves going to the dog park, and loves to show off new tricks. She likes to talk, is very protective of her family, and has the nose of a hound. And we literally could not imagine our lives without her.

Happy adoptaversary, Nani-girl! We love you!

Ben made her a cute little cake with all dog friendly resources (almond flour, eggs, yogurt, peanut butter, coconut oil, strawberries). He found the recipe on Pretty Fluffy and it was super duper easy.

Also, I made a slideshow of some of my favorite photos of Nani in the past year. Enjoy!
