Oh, friends! I’ve been so eager to share this wonderful family’s in-home documentary session with you! This is such an exciting life season for them because they are about to add another little boy to the family in just a few short weeks!
Awhile back, I had been working on expanding my portfolio to include more documentary work and when I put on Instagram that I was looking for a few families that would allow me to practice, Sarah was referred over by a sweet friend of ours from church! Prior to that, we had never actually met, even though we’d probably passed each other many times. With three service times, that can be easy to do! But that came to an end when Sarah and I were coincidently (or probably not really, as I’m sure that nothing is coincidence) assigned to the same table during our ladies bible study!
The morning of their session was gorgeous, to say the least. It was sunny, no clouds in the sky and the temperature was bordering crisp and warm. When I arrived, little B was SO welcoming and HAD to show me all the toys. And so, the session started with playtime! I love watching little ones use their imaginations when they play with their toys. His determined little face as he cuts his fruit (with a spatula!) makes me smile every time. Sarah mentioned in her pre-session questionnaire that they love to have dance parties as a family and so little B broke out his dance moves and guys, it was so.stinkin.cute. Following their dance party, he wanted to show me all of his cars and the coolest toy of all: his motorcycle. I just love the photo of him riding by… he’s so cool!
Once the weather had warmed up just a bit, this little superhero headed out back for a snack and more playtime. One thing is clear, little B loves to be outside. With his play set, his truck, and even the fallen down tree trunk, it’s the perfect backyard to keep him busy! But superheroes do need rest and it was nearing nap time. So after lots of outdoor play, we came back inside for lunch, cuddles, and playtime with mom.
The very last two photos are two of my favorites. He got to have a small chocolate treat after his lunch and this, my friends, is the face you make when you’re told no more chocolate until after nap. But don’t let that face fool you, he had a great time and I was even lucky enough to get a big hug before he went up to nap. It was such a fun morning and I’m SO excited to meet the newest addition!
There are so many reasons to love documentary sessions. I love documenting the facial expressions, the things they played with, the house they lived in. Because time flies and things change. Their little faces get older by the minute. They move on to other toys, leaving old ones behind. Families move to new houses. But most of all, I love capturing the love and connection, the personalities and character. I love capturing who they are right here, right now. Because tomorrow, they’ll be just a little bit different. A little taller. A little wiser. A little more grown up. If you’ve been thinking of having family photos taken (whether documentary or lifestyle), now is the time! Because you can’t get yesterday back! Click here and let’s chat!
