I spent the most fun Saturday morning at the Garcia family’s home on Fort Lee! The morning was full of silly and sweet moments, crafts and playtime, and so much laughter. So, so much laughter.
I met Kelly, a fellow and incredibly talented photographer, in October of last year when she reached out to me on Instagram. Kelly and her beautiful family were en route to Virginia from California, where they were stationed for the past few years. I realized that we had so much in common and connected right away. After chatting a bit, we decided to meet in person once they were settled here in Virginia. So a few weeks later, we met at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts to explore. And, guys, it was like talking to an old friend that I’d known for ages. If there’s one thing I’ve learned in my life, it’s that God has a plan. So I truly believe that it was no coincidence that our paths crossed. Kelly is the most down to earth and even-keeled, encouraging person I’ve ever met. And her family is the sweetest!
But as such is the military lifestyle, Kelly and her little family are getting ready to embark on another adventure and will be headed to their next duty station in April. So before they left, I wanted to be sure to document their moments, their home, their life how it is right here, right now in Virginia. So on that Saturday morning, I arrived and had the greatest time capturing photos so that someday, when they look back at all the duty stations they’ve been to and reflect on all of these adventures, they’ll have these memories of Virginia, even if it was only for a short time.
You’re probably thinking, “Kelly’s a photographer, she probably documented so many amazing memories herself.” And she does, amazing photos in fact. I l o v e seeing her photos. But here’s the one thing that I wanted to make sure happened that Saturday. I wanted HER to be IN the pictures instead of having to take them. I wanted her to sit back, relax, and take in these sweet moments to always remember them! Enjoy!
Mama’s, if you’ve been thinking about a documentary session, there’s no better time than the present. Babies grow so quick and life seasons come as quickly as they came. I would be honored to document these sweet moments for you and your family. Drop me a note to schedule your session!
