A Chester, VA Christmas Traditions Documentary Session
Raise your hand if you love Christmas as much as this girl! If you raised your hand, we’d probably be best friends. Christmas truly is the most wonderful time of the year. It’s the season for family gatherings, where traditions begin and continue – traditions that mean so much both now and later. This Christmas season, I set out to document these sweet moments for a few families, preserving a piece of their family history to cherish for years to come.
You may recognize the Muncy family, since they’ve been in front of my lens a few times (both before and after little C was born)! And when Sarah invited me back into their home to document these sweet moments, I was so incredibly honored – it’s humbling to be trusted to document cherished memories like these!
When I arrived at the Muncy home, I was greeted by little B, who could NOT wait to show me the tree, in all it’s glory waiting to be trimmed with all the ornaments. But first – a gingerbread house. The whole family took part! And by that I mean that little C – this is his first Christmas by the way!! – supervised while Sarah, Levi, and little B decorated, embellishing the house with candy and frosting galore. Then it was off to the play room for books and puzzles before heading into the living room to decorate the tree.
Little B took trimming the tree very seriously – the ornaments were placed with care in just the right spots. I love to pay attention to the ornaments on Christmas trees because they often tell a family’s story over the years. As they decorated, Sarah and Levi talked about where or who they got each ornament from. The finished tree looked beautiful. At this point, little B felt that the gingerbread house needed a little more love. And so, that’s what we did. And of course, all that hard work decorating deserved a snack before nap time.
I thoroughly enjoyed spending the morning with the Muncy family and I know that you’ll enjoy the photos too!
I’ll be sharing a few more super fun sessions on the blog before the year is up! And with that, I am currently booking into the spring! If you’d like to get on my calendar for spring 2018, drop me a note! I can’t wait to hear from you!
